In
782 B.C., by the order of the Urartian king Argishti the 1st, a fortress and
a town around it were founded named as Erebuni to commemorate the victory
over the enemy and glorify the land of Biayna. Among various buildings the
temple to the god Haldi is remarkable. Later on Erebuni was renamed into
Yerevan.
Now
only the remnants of the fortress are remained. The scripts found here tell
many details about all stages of temple's construction. On the slope of the
hill in 1968, a museum was built telling the history of foundation of
Yerevan. All excavated remnants collected here make one to feel the
atmosphere of the period.
