Goshavank

One of the Medieval architectural complexes in Ijevan region. It is erected in 12-13th cc. on the initiative of Mkhitar Gosh- great scientist. The name of complex is in honor of him. There is a central church and small church with many manuscripts and cross stones. These cross stones are remarkable due to their special type of handcraft work, called as "needle-made"- the pride of Armenian architecture. Goshavank complex with a school and University was one of the important cultural educational centers of Armenia. One must note also valuable manuscripts kept there up to nowadays. In 1957-66 the complex was reconstructed and a museum was founded there.
