It is a memorial to the victims of the genocide of Armenian people in 1915. A ten minute walks up the mountain and the monument comes into view. twelve inclined plaques, symbolizing the twelve Duchies. Ancient Armenian melodies fill the air around an eternal flame. At the monument, one strongly gets the feeling that the Armenian people are immortal. In spite of so many trials, they have not lost their optimism, their love of life and their friendly disposition. |
