Day one
|
Meeting
in the airport "
Zvartnots"
and allocation in the hotel. Sightseeing in Yerevan. |

Day two
|
Leave Yerevan in the morning traveling past mount Ararat and the town
of Artashat, one of Armenia's ancient capitals. Stop for lunch in Yeghegnadzor
and then travel on through
Goris
where you will see majestic, natural
rock formations and cave dwellings along the road.
Before
passing Goris you will visit
Tatev
monastry.
Travel through Berdzor
(formerly known as Lachin), past
Shoushi and on to Stepanakert. Rest
and dine at the hotel. |

Day three |
After
breakfast travel to the 17th century fortress of Askeran, once frequented
by David Bek, the famous Armenian commander. Then travel through Aghdam,
and continue to Martakert, then travel through beautiful scenery to the
monastery of
Gandzasar, established in 1226 A.D. and appreciated for its
sublime architecture. After the break for lunch travel on through mountains
and forests witnessing village life along the way. Return to Stepanakert
for dinner. |

Day four |
After
breakfast visit the local rug, shoe and cognac factories. Visit the
museums, war martyrs' cemetery. Travel to
Shoushi, an old and famous
Armenian city liberated by Armenian fighters just ten years ago and
visit the city fortress and 18th century cathedrals. Then return to
Yerevan, stopping for lunch along the way. |

Visit
to
Matenadaran,
repository of Armenian alphabet and manuscripts.

Day six |
Drive
to
Garni,
pagan temple,
Geghard,
a unique temple hewed in the rock. |

Day seven |
Drive
to
Lake
Sevan.
